This is Messier 56 (M56) a globular cluster of approximately 100,000 stars. It can be found in the constellation of Lyra. First image taken from my new observatory on August 1, 2026. It was more of a test than an attempt to get a nice image.
A bit more about M56 from various sources: It is a globular cluster of approximately 100,000 stars spanning 84 light-years across. It is approximately 32,900 light-years from Earth. It has a retrograde orbit through the Milky Way. Astronomers believe it was torn from a dwarf galaxy our Galaxy devoured billions of years ago.
Image acquired using my Celestron XLT 150 with a monochrome ASI2600MM camera. Moon was nearly full and image was captured while the moon was rising. The final image composed of a modest 10 minutes of Red, 4 mins of Blue, 5 mins of Green and 10 mins of Luminance.
