The Orion Starblast 4.5 inch reflector with a motorized alt-az mount makes a good visual observation scope for travel. It can be either tripod mounted as shown here or used table top. I use a baeder clickstop zoom eyepiece which is really handy and avoids having to switch eyepieces or carry a collection of eyepieces when traveling.

Below is another picture of it in the yard for more traditional observing. Sitting on the DIY tripod I made for the OpenAstroTracker, but is just the right size and height for this. Finderscope is a Orion 7020 9×50 Illuminated Right Angle Finder Scope. When the Baader zoom eyepiece is on the XT8, I use a lower budget Orion Explorer 7-21 Zoom eyepiece.
