The Splinter galaxy (NGC 5907). We are looking at it “edge on”. It is in the constellation Draco, in the northern sky, between the Big Dipper and Hercules. It is 50 million light years from us. Due to short summer nights and the clouds that came in the night that I took this, I only got about 2 hours of total exposure time. However, even with only 2 hours of exposure at a bortle 2 site, the dust clouds are clearly visible.
